What Ace copies sold for in the UK

Completed eBay UK sales, in pounds, where the listing recorded the grader and the grade. The graders are not interchangeable here: across 154 cards with both, an Ace 10 sells for about 60% of a PSA 10, and an Ace 9 for about 80% of a PSA 9. The count beside each price is how many sales it is a median of.

What moves the price of this card

The Pikachu on this page is the 1st Edition printing from Japanese Expansion Pack 20th Anniversary, and it trades at $16.53£12.24€14.67 in near mint condition. Only one printing of this card was produced, so there is no cheaper version to confuse it with.

Graded, it runs PSA 8 $27£20€23.96, PSA 9 $52£38.52€46.15, CGC/BGS 9.5 $139.72£103.50€124.01, PSA 10 $223.50£165.56€198.37. PSA has graded 3,700 copies of it. 1,253 completed sales are on file.

What is a PSA 10 Pikachu worth?

A PSA 10 Pikachu from Japanese Expansion Pack 20th Anniversary sells for $223.50. 75.7% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.

Is Pikachu from Japanese Expansion Pack 20th Anniversary worth grading?

On the numbers, yes. The average submission is worth $179.98 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $9 for a raw copy plus $99.99 to send it through PSA Regular, so it clears $70.99.

Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $223.50£165.56€198.37. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
