About these prices
7.8% of copies sent to PSA come back a 10. The 9.5 is a CGC and BGS grade, so it carries no PSA population. A PSA 1 selling above a PSA 2 is the market, not a slip: the cheapest slabbed copy of a card people want is its own thing to want.

PSA has graded 2,923 copies. Where they landed:
Why the verdict weights the odds
Only 13.1% of copies reach a 10, which is why the top price is the wrong number to plan around. Weighting each grade’s PSA price by these odds, a submission is worth $1,066£801.98€938.39 on average against $828.99£623.94€730.07 for the card plus $599£450.84€527.52 at Walk-Through, the cheapest level PSA will insure it at. That clears $236.55£178.04€208.32, so grading a clean copy is worth the wait.

The Charizard (40) on this page is the Reverse Holofoil printing from Expedition, and it trades at $449.99£338.68€396.29 in near mint condition. The other 1 printing of the same card sits lower, which is normal: the scarcer print run always carries the premium.
Graded, it runs PSA 1 $150£112.90€132.10, PSA 2 $115£86.55€101.28, PSA 4 $70£52.69€61.65, PSA 5 $81£60.96€71.33, PSA 6 $138.50£104.24€121.97, PSA 7 $320.21£241€282, PSA 8 $413.99£311.59€364.59, PSA 9 $838.15£630.83€738.13, CGC/BGS 9.5 $922£693.94€811.98, PSA 10 $5,106£3,843€4,497. PSA has graded 2,923 copies of it. 2,017 completed sales are on file.
What is a PSA 10 Charizard (40) worth?
A PSA 10 Charizard (40) from Expedition sells for $5,106. 7.8% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.
Is Charizard (40) from Expedition worth grading?
On the numbers, no. The average submission is worth $803.14 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $209.99 for a raw copy plus $619 to send it through PSA Walk-Through, so it loses $25.85.
Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $5,106£3,843€4,497. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
