PSA has graded 360 copies. Where they landed:
Why the verdict weights the odds
Only 25.8% of copies reach a 10, which is why the top price is the wrong number to plan around. Weighting each grade’s PSA price by these odds, a submission is worth $74.51£56.08€65.62 on average against $123.19£92.72€108.49 for the card plus $79.99£60.20€70.44 at Regular, the cheapest level PSA will insure it at. That loses $48.68£36.64€42.87, so a copy is worth more raw.

The Butterfree (38) on this page is the Normal printing from Expedition, and it trades at $31.21£23.49€27.49 in near mint condition. The other 1 printing of the same card sits lower, which is normal: the scarcer print run always carries the premium.
Graded, it runs PSA 7 $20£15.05€17.61, PSA 8 $25.49£19.18€22.45, PSA 9 $31.50£23.71€27.74, CGC/BGS 9.5 $35£26.34€30.82, PSA 10 $209.50£157.68€184.50. PSA has graded 360 copies of it. 364 completed sales are on file.
What is a PSA 10 Butterfree (38) worth?
A PSA 10 Butterfree (38) from Expedition sells for $209.50. 46.1% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.
Is Butterfree (38) from Expedition worth grading?
On the numbers, no. The average submission is worth $112.04 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $23.20 for a raw copy plus $99.99 to send it through PSA Regular, so it loses $11.15.
Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $209.50£157.68€184.50. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
