Vaporeon

What moves the price of this card

The Vaporeon on this page is the Reverse Holofoil printing from Dark Explorers, and it trades at $29.46£22.17€25.94 in near mint condition. The other 1 printing of the same card sits lower, which is normal: the scarcer print run always carries the premium.

Graded, it runs PSA 7 $12.50£9.41€11.01, PSA 8 $26£19.57€22.90, PSA 9 $69£51.93€60.77, CGC/BGS 9.5 $76£57.20€66.93, PSA 10 $211.03£158.83€185.85. PSA has graded 23 copies of it. 188 completed sales are on file.

What is a PSA 10 Vaporeon worth?

A PSA 10 Vaporeon from Dark Explorers sells for $211.03. 4.3% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.

Is Vaporeon from Dark Explorers worth grading?

On the numbers, no. The average submission is worth $55.31 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $15.44 for a raw copy plus $99.99 to send it through PSA Regular, so it loses $60.12.

Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $211.03£158.83€185.85. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
