AlakazamGrading odds
CGC has graded 312 copies. Where they landed:
These are CGC grades. The prices above are for PSA slabs, and a CGC 10 is not the same grade as a PSA 10, so read the two as separate markets rather than one.
Why the verdict weights the odds
Only 24.4% of copies reach a 10, which is why the top price is the wrong number to plan around. Weighting each grade’s PSA price by these odds, a submission is worth $21.49£16.17€18.92 on average against $100.72£75.81€88.70 for the card plus $79.99£60.20€70.44 at Regular, the cheapest level PSA will insure it at. That loses $79.23£59.64€69.78, so a copy is worth more raw.

The Switch on this page is the Normal printing from Base Set 2, and it trades at $0.37£0.28€0.33 in near mint condition. Only one printing of this card was produced, so there is no cheaper version to confuse it with.
Graded, it runs PSA 7 $9£6.77€7.93, PSA 8 $11.25£8.47€9.91, PSA 9 $20.38£15.34€17.95, CGC/BGS 9.5 $40£30.11€35.23, PSA 10 $41£30.86€36.11. PSA has graded 131 copies of it. 147 completed sales are on file.
What is a PSA 10 Switch worth?
A PSA 10 Switch from Base Set 2 sells for $41. 24.8% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.
Is Switch from Base Set 2 worth grading?
On the numbers, no. The average submission is worth $21.42 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $0.73 for a raw copy plus $99.99 to send it through PSA Regular, so it loses $79.30.
Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $41£30.86€36.11. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
