What Ace copies sold for in the UK

Completed eBay UK sales, in pounds, where the listing recorded the grader and the grade. The graders are not interchangeable here: across 154 cards with both, an Ace 10 sells for about 60% of a PSA 10, and an Ace 9 for about 80% of a PSA 9. The count beside each price is how many sales it is a median of.

What moves the price of this card

The Surfer on this page is the Holofoil printing from Japanese High Class Pack: MEGA Dream ex, and it trades at $7.93£5.91€7.09 in near mint condition. Only one printing of this card was produced, so there is no cheaper version to confuse it with.

Graded, it runs PSA 8 $12.50£9.32€11.18, PSA 9 $23£17.15€20.57, CGC/BGS 9.5 $25£18.64€22.36, PSA 10 $85£63.38€76.04. PSA has graded 1,006 copies of it. 368 completed sales are on file.

What is a PSA 10 Surfer worth?

A PSA 10 Surfer from Japanese High Class Pack: MEGA Dream ex sells for $85. 57.2% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.

Is Surfer from Japanese High Class Pack: MEGA Dream ex worth grading?

On the numbers, no. The average submission is worth $57.83 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $8 for a raw copy plus $99.99 to send it through PSA Regular, so it loses $50.16.

Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $85£63.38€76.04. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
