What moves the price of this card

The Quaxly on this page is the Reverse Holofoil printing from Surging Sparks, and it trades at $0.22£0.17€0.19 in near mint condition. The other 1 printing of the same card sits lower, which is normal: the scarcer print run always carries the premium.

Graded, it runs PSA 9 $19.56£14.72€17.23, CGC/BGS 9.5 $31.73£23.88€27.94, PSA 10 $69.15£52.05€60.90. PSA has graded 230 copies of it. 212 completed sales are on file.

What is a PSA 10 Quaxly worth?

A PSA 10 Quaxly from Surging Sparks sells for $69.15. 16.0% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.

Is Quaxly from Surging Sparks worth grading?

On the numbers, no. The average submission is worth $24.36 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $1.34 for a raw copy plus $99.99 to send it through PSA Regular, so it loses $76.97.

Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $69.15£52.05€60.90. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
