Grading odds

CGC has graded 21 copies. Where they landed:

CGC 8.51257.1%
CGC 8419.0%
CGC 7.529.5%
CGC 714.8%
CGC 6.514.8%
Lower14.8%

These are CGC grades. The prices above are for PSA slabs, and a CGC 10 is not the same grade as a PSA 10, so read the two as separate markets rather than one.

Why the verdict weights the odds

A CGC/BGS 9.5 sells for $77£57.95€67.81 against $36.48£27.46€32.13 ungraded plus $79.99£60.20€70.44 at Regular. Without a PSA population report there is nothing to weight those grades by, so this is a best case rather than an average. CGC numbers cannot stand in: the prices on this ladder are PSA prices and a CGC 10 is an easier grade to reach.

1 of the 3 grades priced above had no sales at that grade, so the figure is modelled from the grades that did rather than observed.

What moves the price of this card

The Passimian (Prerelease) [Staff] on this page is the Holofoil printing from SM Promos, and it trades at $58.99£44.40€51.95 in near mint condition. Only one printing of this card was produced, so there is no cheaper version to confuse it with.

Graded, it runs PSA 8 $30£22.58€26.42, PSA 9 $69.99£52.68€61.64, CGC/BGS 9.5 $77£57.95€67.81. PSA has graded 16 copies of it. 41 completed sales are on file.

Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
