Blastoise (Delta Species)Grading odds
CGC has graded 49 copies. Where they landed:
These are CGC grades. The prices above are for PSA slabs, and a CGC 10 is not the same grade as a PSA 10, so read the two as separate markets rather than one.
Why the verdict weights the odds
Only 7.3% of copies reach a 10, which is why the top price is the wrong number to plan around. Weighting each grade’s PSA price by these odds, a submission is worth $29.82£22.45€26.26 on average against $103.51£77.91€91.16 for the card plus $79.99£60.20€70.44 at Regular, the cheapest level PSA will insure it at. That loses $73.69£55.46€64.89, so a copy is worth more raw.

What moves the price of this card
The Mysterious Shard on this page is the Reverse Holofoil printing from EX Crystal Guardians, and it trades at $3.77£2.84€3.32 in near mint condition. The other 1 printing of the same card sits lower, which is normal: the scarcer print run always carries the premium.
Graded, it runs PSA 7 $8£6.02€7.05, PSA 8 $10.61£7.99€9.34, PSA 9 $15.77£11.87€13.89, CGC/BGS 9.5 $17£12.79€14.97, PSA 10 $248.09£186.72€218.49. PSA has graded 41 copies of it. 88 completed sales are on file.
What is a PSA 10 Mysterious Shard worth?
A PSA 10 Mysterious Shard from EX Crystal Guardians sells for $248.09. 7.3% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.
Is Mysterious Shard from EX Crystal Guardians worth grading?
On the numbers, no. The average submission is worth $29.82 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $3.52 for a raw copy plus $99.99 to send it through PSA Regular, so it loses $73.69.
Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $248.09£186.72€218.49. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
