Why the verdict weights the odds
Only 21.2% of copies reach a 10, which is why the top price is the wrong number to plan around. Weighting each grade’s PSA price by these odds, a submission is worth $422.00£317.62€371.65 on average against $182.49£137.35€160.71 for the card plus $79.99£60.20€70.44 at Regular, the cheapest level PSA will insure it at. That clears $239.51£180.27€210.93, so grading a clean copy is worth the wait.

What is a PSA 10 M Sceptile EX (85 Full Art) worth?
A PSA 10 M Sceptile EX (85 Full Art) from XY - Ancient Origins sells for $1,435. 22.9% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.
Is M Sceptile EX (85 Full Art) from XY - Ancient Origins worth grading?
On the numbers, yes. The average submission is worth $443.77 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $82.50 for a raw copy plus $99.99 to send it through PSA Regular, so it clears $261.28.
Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $1,435£1,080€1,264. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
