Why the verdict weights the odds
Only 0.2% of copies reach a 10, which is why the top price is the wrong number to plan around. Weighting each grade’s PSA price by these odds, a submission is worth $98.96£74.48€87.15 on average against $169.93£127.90€149.65 for the card plus $79.99£60.20€70.44 at Regular, the cheapest level PSA will insure it at. That loses $70.97£53.42€62.50, so a copy is worth more raw.

What moves the price of this card
The M Metagross EX (Shiny) on this page is the Holofoil printing from XY Promos, and it trades at $69.94£52.64€61.59 in near mint condition. Only one printing of this card was produced, so there is no cheaper version to confuse it with.
Graded, it runs PSA 6 $43.23£32.54€38.07, PSA 7 $63£47.42€55.48, PSA 9 $520£391.38€457.95. PSA has graded 564 copies of it. 332 completed sales are on file.
Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
