Grading odds

PSA has graded 290 copies. Where they landed:

PSA 98629.7%
PSA 84314.8%
PSA 7134.5%
PSA 672.4%

Why the verdict weights the odds

Only 46.9% of copies reach a 10, which is why the top price is the wrong number to plan around. Weighting each grade’s PSA price by these odds, a submission is worth $633.49£472.37€566.68 on average against $144.99£108.11€129.70 for the card plus $79.99£59.65€71.55 at Regular, the cheapest level PSA will insure it at. That clears $488.50£364.26€436.98, so grading a clean copy is worth the wait.

What moves the price of this card

The Flygon ex on this page is the Unlimited Holofoil printing from Japanese Mirage Forest, and it trades at $30£22.37€26.84 in near mint condition. Only one printing of this card was produced, so there is no cheaper version to confuse it with.

Graded, it runs PSA 9 $252£187.91€225.42, PSA 10 $1,188£885.48€1,062. PSA has graded 290 copies of it. 172 completed sales are on file.

What is a PSA 10 Flygon ex worth?

A PSA 10 Flygon ex from Japanese Mirage Forest sells for $1,188. 46.9% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.

Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $1,188£885.48€1,062. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
