Flareon

What moves the price of this card

The Flareon on this page is the Reverse Holofoil printing from Dark Explorers, and it trades at $18.22£13.71€16.05 in near mint condition. The other 1 printing of the same card sits lower, which is normal: the scarcer print run always carries the premium.

Graded, it runs PSA 8 $38.95£29.32€34.30, PSA 9 $100£75.26€88.07, CGC/BGS 9.5 $110£82.79€96.87, PSA 10 $279.52£210.38€246.16. PSA has graded 22 copies of it. 153 completed sales are on file.

What is a PSA 10 Flareon worth?

A PSA 10 Flareon from Dark Explorers sells for $279.52. 9.1% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.

Is Flareon from Dark Explorers worth grading?

On the numbers, no. The average submission is worth $78.34 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $13.84 for a raw copy plus $99.99 to send it through PSA Regular, so it loses $35.49.

Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $279.52£210.38€246.16. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
