PSA has graded 19,457 copies. Where they landed:
Why the verdict weights the odds
Only 1.7% of copies reach a 10, which is why the top price is the wrong number to plan around. Weighting each grade’s PSA price by these odds, a submission is worth $228.59£172.05€201.31 on average against $682.50£513.68€601.06 for the card plus $599£450.84€527.52 at Walk-Through, the cheapest level PSA will insure it at. That loses $453.91£341.63€399.75, so a copy is worth more raw.

What moves the price of this card
The Aerodactyl (1) on this page is the 1st Edition Holofoil printing from Fossil, and it trades at $92.55£69.66€81.51 in near mint condition. The other 1 printing of the same card sits lower, which is normal: the scarcer print run always carries the premium.
Graded, it runs PSA 1 $72.50£54.57€63.85, PSA 2 $35£26.34€30.82, PSA 3 $25£18.82€22.02, PSA 4 $28.58£21.51€25.17, PSA 5 $42.50£31.99€37.43, PSA 6 $60£45.16€52.84, PSA 7 $80£60.21€70.45, PSA 8 $152.50£114.78€134.30, PSA 9 $305£229.56€268.60, CGC/BGS 9.5 $336£252.89€295.90, PSA 10 $5,205£3,918€4,584. PSA has graded 19,457 copies of it. 10,705 completed sales are on file.
What is a PSA 10 Aerodactyl (1) worth?
A PSA 10 Aerodactyl (1) from Fossil sells for $5,205. 0.5% of the copies PSA has graded came back a 10, so that price is the best case rather than the one a submission should expect.
Is Aerodactyl (1) from Fossil worth grading?
On the numbers, no. The average submission is worth $162.24 with every grade weighted by how often this card comes back at it, against $63.50 for a raw copy plus $619 to send it through PSA Walk-Through, so it loses $520.26.
Condition does most of the work below the surface. A copy with soft corners or a print line off centre trades well under the market price shown here, and a copy clean enough to grade trades well above it, which is why the PSA 10 sits at $5,205£3,918€4,584. Before you value your own copy, look at the corners under a light and check the centring on the back, where most cards give themselves away.
